Swapping...My New Addiction

I just participated in my first swap on Rav and was totally excited as it turned out to be more fun than I ever thought it would be. Shopping for my own partner was definitley a blast, but then when my own package came I could hardle contain myself! I got so many awesome things, coffee, stitch markers, note pad, and some awesome skeins of yarns, one of which my partner spun and dyed herself. I am so excited about the yarn especially and can't wait to find the perfect pattern.

Keepin' on knitting

This past week I have really been able to get a handle on my knitting to-do list. I finished knitting and blocked Andrew's scarf which I think turned out so well. Previously the scarf curled like a mo-fo. I never blocked anything before but found a couple helpful tutorials and it turned out great!

My mom was also in the hospital this past week having her surgery...Nothing major, just removing a couple of her un-needed parts. :) I brought my knitting with me for the first time ever while waiting at the hospital and it wasn't as I bad as I had though!. I anticipated weird looks and gawks, but instead got a lot of compliments and questions. I would definitely bring my knitting with me again. I don't know what I was so afraid of! I got her ruffle scarf done which she loves and wears and she rests around the house.

Now, as my list goes down though, my sister requests a beret and fingerless gloves for spring. I think I have found the perfect patterns. I also am dying to knit myself the "just enough ruffles" scarf and still need to knit my swap partner her cowl! I love having all these projects to look forward to!

Knotty

So about a week ago I was working on Andrew's scarf. I am loving the yarn, the pattern, the way everything is turning out. As I am knitting though, I go quickly from my bedroom to the kitchen to grab something to eat. Time sure can get lost in your stitches and I was starving. I was not even gone five minutes and I return to my room only to find that it looked my working yarn had thrown up all over my floor! And then I see her. There sits Chloe with that "what did I do" look stamped right across her puppy face. OK, this is fine I thought, it happened, nothing I can do about it now. I picked up my yarn and tried to arrange in a way I could still use it all. So far so good and I was still able to knit quite a bit. Today though, I come to a huge, I mean huge knot. I tried and tried to untangle it, but at this point I have had enough. I am sad to say I broke the yarn and tied on a new skein. I have put the mess in my basket for another day but am so sad. The yarn was fabulous and I don't even want to think about having to un-do all those awful knots.

Inconsiderate School

Yesterday I started classes; my last semester, which I am extremely excited about. The only probably is, is that all this new homework and studying is interfering with my knitting time! After having a month off and knitting at my leisure, I'm finding it quite hard to get back into the swing of things. Can't these professors understand that my Fo's will suffer immensely from their numerous assignments, papers, and readings? How inconsiderate of them. Must find time to knit!!

My new loves

While I continue to wittle away at my to do knitting list (currently working on bf's scarf-mom your next!) I have found some new patterns and items to drool over.

I am for some reason head over heals for the purl scarf. I love the way the colors and yarns all mesh together and can not wait to get some yarn to start the project. Can't payday come sooner??

I have also just recently discovered crystal palace knitting needles. I have already used the DPNs but I love love love the straights and can't wait to pick myself up a pair. I think they would be perfect for the purl scarf. I love knitting Pretty. :)

And my last love....lace scarves, particularly the lace ribbon scarf. I'm already dreaming of spring, and think it would be wonderful thrown over my t-shirt and jeans. Yay!

Yay me!

It's not even day one and I have my first item crossed off my list! Cowl is done and the pattern was so simple. Took all of an hour and I love it!
Matching beret was also done, which was a fast knit too. Now to wait for Friday, (Payday!) so I can stock up on the yarn for the rest of my projects. :)

I'm a list maker

I am such a list maker that if I don't write it down I will never remember! I have so many projects and things I want to do for 2009 that I have to list them all! Now here's hoping they all get done!
